Newborn Photoshoot- sydney - arthur 8 days

2022 has been a year packed with wide awake babies! They all seem to have FOMO (fear of missing out)- never have i had so many little bubba’s fight sleep so strenuously. So when it came time to photograph little Arthur in his Western Sydney home, i came ready with my wraps expecting another fight. I couldn’t have been more wrong- this baby was the most chilled out little guy i’ve had in a long time! He’s what we newborn photographers refer to as a “unicorn baby” - as in, it’s so rare to have a baby who sleeps through their entire session with no fussing at all.

At only 8 days old Arthur was more than happy to catch some zzz’s under the warmth of my heater whilst i did my thing. My in home newborn sessions are baby led- this means i don’t have a strict workflow, and will work to babies cues to ensure everyone enjoys the newborn photography experience.

Arthur was so sleepy and content without being wrapped, so we moved straight onto outfit shots. Being so young he was still nice and curly and was not bothered being posed on the curls. He did however refuse to open his fists. it’s often said a well fed, content baby will have relaxed hands- in my experience this isn’t always true, some babies just don’t like having their fists open when asleep.

The “tushie up” pose is one that most babies are happy to do. It’s always such a shame to have to move them again when they are sleeping so soundly on their tummy. You may notice the mongolian blue spot on Arthurs lower back- these birthmarks are quite common for newborns of Asian descent and usually fade with time.

Arthur is lucky to have two older brothers who were happy to dote on him during his newborn photoshoot, given he was still happily sleeping i was able to get his brothers to participate in this beautiful shot, cradling him in their arms.

Mum and Dad got in on the action too, all whilst little Arthur kept snoozing away.

I love nothing more than capturing siblings with their new brother or sister and all Joy! Images in home newborn photography sessions include sibling & parent shots if requested. I got Arthur wrapped up nice and snug and put his older brothers to work.

Last up for Arthur’s newborn session was the family photos. With everyone gathered together we captured the happy family of five and that was Arthur’s newborn photoshoot done!

All Joy! Images In Home Newborn Photography sessions are edited within 7 days- then it’s up to my lovely clients to choose their package from their online gallery. There’s no pressure to buy the largest package or buy expensive products. All packages are digital so clients are free to print as many copies as they like, wherever they like.
